People in Japan who knew him were apparently stunned when the Israeli govt sent a delegation to his funeral. They hadn’t known anything about his heroism.

Also, his son went to Israel in his place when he was named one of the Righteous Among the Nations. Sugihara was ill and couldn’t go. He wrote to his father, “I’ve barely had time to rest my arm, so many people want to shake my hand. I am so proud to have such a father.”

Sometimes you can't measure an individual's courage... You can try by sharing their story, then attempt to think the way they did. If only more people did things like this.

If our congress had even a few individuals held upright by the same moral framework of Chiune Sugihara we would all be inspired to great things instead of being spiritually layed low by a president that is his moral counter.

A truly inspiring story. Let's hope it leads some people in the ICE and CBP bureaucracies to treat asylum seekers humanely, even if that means endangering their government careers.
