I thought the whole deal with Kaepernick was that people were allowed to have their own opinions? Why does that no longer apply?

Doesn't that right to an opinion extend to Simone Biles? You have a right to your opinion, and I have the right to my opinion that YOUR opinion sucks. Geddit?

Yeah she can have her opinion too. I find it odd that they are quicker to have a public opinion on not liking a corporation rather than a doctor sexually assaulting gymnasts though.

Who is the "they" you're referring to? The issue with Bono's tweet is threefold. 1. USAG desperately needs sponsors and has several Nike sponsored athletes, making this a bad business decision.

        2. Boycotting Nike over this shows a willingness to silence athletes, which is something that contributes to Nassar's abuse. 3. People who have such a strong reaction to the Nike ad are racist at worst and ignorant to issues of systematic racism at best.

        1. USA Olympics is some of the most well funded in the entire world. The gymnastics program consistently medals and would never have trouble finding corporate sponsors.

USA gymnastics is down to literally at most three sponsors. Everyone rightfully jumped ship when it came out the organization helped cover up a serial abuser. UsaGym can’t afford to alienate any possible sponsor right now which is why this is such a big deal.

Give it another Olympic cycle and there will absolutely be sponsors for USA gymnastics. You act like covering a Nike logo is the same as years of molesting underage girls. Do you really not see how ridiculous that comparison is and how disrespectful it is to the victims?

@USAGym had leadership that did not care about its athletes to the point that they allowed systemic abuse of girls & tried to keep them silent. Now less than 24 hours into the job @MaryBonoUSA issued an "apology" because she prefers athletes to be silent about systemic abuses.

Why is @MaryBonoUSA inserting politics, it’s gymnastics - she’s alienating team members already. Aren’t they supposed to focus on the gymnasts not the politics.

Not when she’s the new president of an organization that desperately needs the sponsorship, which has several athletes who are sponsored by Nike, and when the disagreement stems over athletes being silenced, which is what helped a monster sexually abuse hundreds of gymnasts

#America supports @MaryBonoUSA 100% and could care less if @Simone_Biles has an issue with it. Question, was this story really worthy for NYT...or was it just another liberal hit job on a true American meant to sow division in our country. NYT’s is anti-American
