As a genealogist sifting thru remnants of my ancestors, I considered the story I'd want future generations to have of my marriage that lasted 2 decades past happiness. I decided there were no amusing anecdotes here, just statistics. The sentimental bits were easier to shed.

Most goes out to the trash after the divorce for a clean start, outside of what you plan to pass down to your kids like photos, etc. The stuff you pass down can be boxed up and labeled memories for the kids to go through some day.

I’ve been through multiple divorces. I recommend throwing all sentimental objects on your ex’s lawn, or on the lawn of the closest relative you know the address of. Let’s be adults here.
