Here’s Gloria Steinem at 18. Her advice to the girl in the photo? “You won’t have to wait for others to decide your life." We want to hear from you. Share a photo of yourself at 18 with the hashtag #ThisIs18. What would you say to your younger self? https://nyti.ms/2yAMJoV pic.twitter.com/V7N5TamFzI

#Thisis18 This is me at 18 (yes, so 80’s🙄). I would tell that girl not to worry...everything is going to be fine, and please do not let anyone else define, alter or validate you, but yourself👍🏼🙂pic.twitter.com/e80ag6Qz4Q

No pic from me, but here's what I'd say. Appreciate what you have. Tell your loved ones how you feel. Don't try to be perfect. Forgive others more. Care more about the environment and politics, because they're going to shape your future more than you know.

she is not being truthful. Other decide many things about us. for example she didn't decide to be born a girl, white, in America, and so on. These empty, and thoughtless platitudes are unbearable.

The point here is, given who you were at 18, what would you tell that person having the knowledge you have now. Totally useless exercise, but fun. I encountered a young couple (high schoolers) on my dog walk through the woods yesterday. I told them to enjoy being young.

I get the point. Still, people have less choices in general than they realize.

True, but one does have options within those choices. Especially nowadays. Sad thing is, youth is wasted on the young.

Bold does not equal agressive. Educating oneself means get an education. Having lots of sex when you’re young is fun.
