Jared Kushner has a net worth of almost $324 million. But it appears he paid almost no federal income taxes in recent years, according to a review of confidential financial documents by The New York Times.https://nyti.ms/2CHPEk2

Amazing how "little people" applaud cheating on taxes as smart
-
Only if the side they are rooting for is doing it. Otherwise, it's a travesty.

Amazing how the more money one has, the more ways to not pay taxes present themselves.
-
Especially if one feels “protected.”

This is disgusting. Meanwhile the middle class is stuck footing the bill for all of the wealthy tax cuts. I lose 25% of my income every year to taxes.
-
All I really want is iced coffee, a muffin, a blue wave in November and indictments in December.

Oh look - guess which newspaper declared “negative tax paid” despite making millions in profit...pic.twitter.com/XpW2MYoO7R

You lot need to sort your laws out! As do we (UK), EU & rest of the World. The law is allowing a blatant con & it is normal tax paying workers & their communities who are paying the price.

No Democrat or Liberal has ever committed the same "sin" of using legal tax strategies to reduce their taxes? Nothing to see here.
-
I think this story is more about the fundamental unfairness of the tax system and less about the political affiliations of those taking advantage of it.
-
Maybe. I respect that. But did you know that the top 1% of income earners pay over 50% of all income tax, while arguably using fewer public resources? Is that fair? It may be right, but not sure it's fair.
-
"Using fewer public resources" is horseshit. Look at Trump. He gets interest-free gov't loans as a developer, risks no money of his own and then doesn't pay taxes on the profits. And none of it would be possible without the infrastructure the rest of us pay for.
-
Of course there are exceptions. Can we save the swearing for the fourth graders please.
-
Aren't 4th graders the ones who giggle or blush at profanity? Adults should be more mature than that.

This is called real estate investing...
-
Lol. No kidding. I love how they try and pass it off as some nefarious scheme.
-
Don’t see how this precludes the fact that real estate investment is mostly for rich people & the rules just happen to make it easier for people to create money w/o working & even when they are bad at it (losses). Meanwhile, those who work pay taxes & don’t get to deduct shit.
-
In fact it makes it even more damning.
-
Just because it doesn't make sense to you doesn't mean that it doesn't make sense.
-
But you can’t explain it?
-
I don't invest in real estate, and I'm not claiming that it's crooked. Have you asked why that law might exist? What fiscal purpose it might serve? Maybe the answer would surprise you. *shrug*
-
Yeah I have & my point is they can report on something as an example of how a system is broken w/o it being illegal. It’s still newsworthy especially as it relates to national security.
