The wedding was paid for by the family, as was the reception. The security was taxpayer. The security for a more minor royal is part of the deal. But the British taxpaying public did not foot the bill for the wedding or the reception.

Over £2 million spent by us for security on a minor Royal?

Yes. Have you ever looked at how much tourism money is spent in Britain as a direct result of having a Royal Family?

My dear British cousins, get back to me when your leader jets off to their golf course every weekend and charges the $3 million per trip to the taxpayers.

Too right we do. A decade of austerity has hit hard, so seeing this nonsense waved in our faces is a tad galling.

It completely sexist to be giving a royal granddaughter such a hard time about a partially taxpayer funded wedding, and not to have mentioned it for either of the Princes. They were all too expensive and wasteful!

I don't blame them. Why should they pay for her wedding. The Royals have billions.

Isn't the Royal Family rich enough to pay for the marriage itself ?

After reading the article it is only my humble opinion that the Royal Family should have paid for the wedding and not the British people. I believe the Queen and her children have enough money of their own to pay for their weddings. I'm with the people on this one.

They did pay for it themselves. It’s the security involved around the head of state and senior royals attending and also control of any crowds as these events are always popular for tourists and many locals alike.

I hope that is true. I love watching their wedding but not, if it were at the expense of Briton's. Thanks for the update, appreciated and understood.

If they pay it, so what. I gripe about every bill. Its the payors prerogative.

It was a beautiful wedding. Princess Eugenie is the Queen's granddaughter and deserved a big wedding just as much as her cousin Harry.
