Wow, 6 years for putting on a sham concert? You would think he got out of paying 500 million dollars in taxes with that kind of sentence.

And he continued his fraud while in bail. It’s in the article. He’ll go to ao “white collar” prison most likely and continue his schemes but at least now he has a conviction and may serve a couple of years.

That is a very long time for a non-violent crime.

Out of curiosity what do you think is appropriate? Jail should mostly be for removing violent people from society but what should happen to people who defraud others of large amounts of money? In this case $24 million

I'm not totally sure. More forms of restorative justice, something to actually pay back the people he defrauded instead of their tax money going to house him in prison. I believe strongly that he should be punished, but I'm against long prison sentences.

Future republican candidate for WH. Just 5-6 more bankruptcies and another dozen cons to go and he will qualify perfectly.

Conclusion...American legal system takes fake music festivals way more seriously than fake universities...no wait...maybe it's about the demographics of the people who got ripped off..

In other news, organizers of junk mortgage backed securities, credit default swaps and hopeless Hype P.O.'s have served 0 days in prison. In other other news, Martha Stewart has been executed for an improper tax deduction in 1997.

While I think it’s hilarious that this idiot went to prison, I also think that the idiots that paid actual, real money to see Ja Rule in concert should go to prison too.

More than enough time to writer his Wolf of Fyre Festival Memoir from the confines of his country club prison, where he will doubtless get a lot of advice on how to turn his 'morality tale' into a world tour.
