        People seem to be missing the point. This isn't making light of school shootings. It's taking a (phenomenal) older work, the Gastlycrumb Tinies, which depicts children dying in horrible ways as a sort of dark humor. This is saying that work is actually not far off the mark.

        It's satirizing Edward goreys work. It isn't making light of anything. It's a commentary. Edward goreys book depicted scenes that were so awful it was ok to enjoy because it would never happen, is actually happening in today's society. And that's fucked up. That's the point.

        Sadly the knee-jerk reactionaries who think even discussing school shootings is terrible because they are some how sacrosanct will probably not see this incredibly relevant comment.

        Exactly. Not discussing the issue won't make it go away. Mad magazine is trying to start discussion the best way it can, through satire. Satire is a completely valid form of commentary.
