When the private equity firms that pushed Toys "R" Us into bankruptcy refused to talk to the laid-off employees demanding severance, the workers went after the firm's honey pot: public pensions.https://nyti.ms/2CyY517

They should save their money and stop buying poster boards. Laid-off employees don’t get severance.

No you're right! Laid off employees get unemployment for two years while permanently laid off employees are kicked to the curb while the powers-that-be gets a rake in what little money is left. They wouldn't have that money if it wasn't for the employees

Hopefully some day the primacy of shareholders in public companies and profits at all costs of private equity funds will be offset by the requirement that such institutions accept a requirement that the long term good of society is a mandatory consideration. #forthelongtermgood

Its sad to see that rich corporations have to be publicly shamed into doing what’s right. These laid-off workers deserve severance so they have time to find other employment. People saying it’s “extortion” would demand severance if they were let go & we all know it.
