We asked survivors of past hurricanes if they had any advice to share with those affected by Florence. Here's what they said.https://nyti.ms/2DhYN4e

Move away from coasts/rivers. America has shit infrastructure and there are no real flood drainage systems anywhere which is why places go fucking underwater when even minor hurricanes hit.

Apply for everything you can. WATCH OUT for SBA loans as you have no idea what the economy will be like in two years. Get the paper to get more detailed news. Treat all cuts as if they’re a tropical infection because the risk is there. Sincerely, Katrina survivor

Aft Florence, you will be Romin' around- but safety first (water/electricity not mixing), contacting creditors, saving unimpaired possessions, doing plausible repairs, be kind to self/others - Survivors of past hurricanes advise those affected by Florencehttps://nyti.ms/2DhYN4e

In the Netherlands we think the USA is a third world country when it comes to flood prevention.

Everyone who lived through and survived Florence is already a survivor of past hurricanes. This is not our first rodeo here in NC. Hazel, Hugo, Fran, Floyd, Matthew. Florence is just another to add to the list.

I didn't notice a mention of mold in flooded houses, which can be a health hazard, especially for people with asthma. In walls, sofas, cloths carpets. Hidden structural damage is also something to be aware of as well.
