Jagdish Patel came to the U.S. from India in 1968 and eventually sponsored his wife and 6 siblings. Their descendants include doctors, dentists and a venture capitalist. This is the face of family-based migration, which President Trump wants to limit.https://nyti.ms/2OqpQeI

I lived next door the the Patel, all they want is their "Own State" so all the Patel can go there, this is from the horses mouth, I lived next door to the Patel for five years. I think they should get their own state so they can all live happily, it is a reasonable request.

Your beliefs aren't relevant here. Trump's policies would exclude the person in question. Not that you care enough to do anything.

the "chain immigration " Trump rails against is how they got in. It's how Melania's parents got in. He used it, and condemns it.

Indian Americans are outliers in terms of their positive impact on the U.S. economy and scientific output. Jagdish Patel is an outlier. With that said, if Trump reduced Indian-American LEGAL immigration, it would be losing out on doctors, engineers, capitalists undoubtedly.

Let me guess...you're Indian, right? Calling Indians outliers and diminishing contributions of other immigrants is self-serving.

How dare you! I’m not saying we should diminish the interests of other communities. I would never say that. But I do know that if Indian-American immigration is stopped, it would hurt the economy. I also call out negative aspects of our community. So don’t judge others.

Doesn’t mean bring entire family tree and then their extended families and relatives. That’s nothing but blatant abuse of the system. We all know how qualified most of those relatives are. In fact for sure many on investigation will turn out no relatives at all.

What all of you fail to grasp is that Trump and Miller want to stop people just like you from immigrating, even without families. He says one thing, and then does another. He's a con man, and you're his marks. Willing victims who refuse to see the obvious until it's too late.

Everyone is on their mark. But DT/ST are not only ones to blame. ~3 million immigrants come on family / diversity combined but ALL politicians have always made the 300k skilled visa immigrants the brunt of public to get votes. I wonder if the 3 million takes jobs or not.
