Thousands of Massachusetts residents were told not to return to their homes after a sudden series of gas explosions and fires ripped through 3 towns. As many as 80 buildings had been burned, and 8,500 homes or businesses had been affected.https://nyti.ms/2NbYb4H

The cheaper, the better. Regarding the electric wiring, the network of gas distribution, the USA are like a third world country.

We'll be seeing more of this type of stuff as we see more deregulation. These companies don't want to pay for safety and now they don't have to.

So nobody is saying what we are all thinking, possible terrorism and a practice run for a big city. Unfortunately in this day and age that is a possible reality. This should be page ONE in every paper and rule out any possibility of terrorism. Horrible all around. Prayers.

I've never been a fan of piping natural gas into homes. If this was caused by a gas-pressure spike, imagine what happens when the gas-grid gets hacked. What's preventing a hacker from overloading the 'city gas' piped into all the NYC apartments? Who needs nukes when there's gas.

It’s so heartwarming that @realDonaldTrump has been out showing his support and concern for those impacted, hurt and killed by this terrible disaster while forgetting his petty gripes and self aggrandizement for a little while. #sarcasm #POTUS

It's very unfortunate that our infrastructure is by nature so vulnerable. Wouldn't it be wonderful if gas was used for manufacturing, or even burned at an electric plant, rather than piped directly to thousands of homes? Power lines don't blow up your house...
