Truthfully prisons are pretty secure. That’s why they are prisons. I’ve been in one. They will withstand a category 2 hurricane. Quit fear mongering.

If anyone drowns because of this cynical decision the state will surely be held accountable. There is enough experience from storm Katrina to have evacuation plans for prisoners in case of hurricanes. Another damage is US reputation in the world.

The amount of apathy and even out right hate for these prisoners I've seen under this post is incredible. God forbid any of you ever get convicted of a crime, whether you actually committed it or not. God forbid someone makes a terrible choice. Second Chances be damned apparently

Why am I not surprised? These "officials" probably think of themselves as Christians, too. Everyone who has ethics pray for these ppl.

State Prison employees who guard them are also being put at risk and the people who will possibly have to rescue them irrespective time of what you think about the inmates!! Appalling decision.

I spent a month in jail because I got a DUI in my driveway, after calling the police just so the cops would be there to prevent a drive-by shooting I was warned would occur. I assure you there are good people in jails & prisons also who are victims of unfortunate circumstances.
