Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and his wife MacKenzie Bezos pledged $2 billion for a new fund to help homeless families and start preschools, called Day 1 Fund. The money is by far the largest philanthropic donation by Bezos, who is the world's richest person.https://nyti.ms/2OfsgMX

Why doesn’t he just pay tax like everyone else?

Yes, Jeff. Pay some taxes...you could start by not holding cities hostage for tax breaks to locate in their town. And then pay your workers a more reasonable wage. Then go ahead with your grand projects.

Step 1. Demand huge tax breaks from local governments. Step 2. Use money saved from huge tax breaks to build affordable housing (a charitable donation) Step 3. Write off charitable donation from your taxes. Step 4. Demand local government/citizens pay for the housing you built.

@JeffBezos how about you stop trying to better your name by making tax deductible donations and just pay your workers a decent wage?

It's the federal laws 43 put in place allowing super pacs and more tax defferment with less oversight. 44 attempted to change but gop stopped tax reform. 45 tax laws will make it much worse. New yacht for some, more payday loans for most.
