        To some this isn't clear. Consider- the longest day of the year, when the sun is highest (northern hemisphere), is June 21. But the hottest day is usually around Aug 1. Shortest day is Dec 21, but coldest is about Jan 21. Weather has momentum. Heating (or cooling) lags...

        behind the weather conditions. CO2 has the same effect. The world is warming toward where CO2 levels drive them. To offset, CO2 levels have to be reduced fast enough to prevent the world from getting as hot as current CO2 levels will drive them.
