“The cartoon about Serena is about her poor behavior on the day, not about race,” the artist said. But many of his peers disagreed. "Either he is a deliberately racist cartoonist — or an incompetent and careless cartoonist.”https://nyti.ms/2CJOK7L

Saying that it was racist, not that it was specifically addressing her, does that make you racist, stating that caricature features are present in real people, specifically Serena?

I find this whole ordeal sexist. Why is it men are allowed to get angry in sports and women aren’t?

If men get angry and break their racket, they get a warning. If they are coached, they get a warning. If they call the umpire a thief (in many cases, depends on umpire) they would get a warning as well. Serena wouldn’t stop ranting so I think it’s on her and every excuse is lame

Many angry, breaking racket occurrences have gone unpunished in the past. The mass reaction and judgement would not have happened if she were a man.

9/10 racket breaking would get a warning. That’s a no brainer. You could argue that the umpire straight gave a warning for illegal coaching instead of « warning » her while she was sitting on her chair. Some umpires do it. But mass judgement is because of Serena’s status, not sex

And fully deserved. You can’t behave like this on a court without getting called out. I don’t get the complaints honestly

So, only the creator can judge whether the object they created is racist? 🤔 That’s laughable.
