In Opinion Op-Ed contributor Albert Samaha writes, "Yes, football is dangerous, but so is leaving one's future in the hands of an unequal educational system. It's no wonder the sport still feels like a winning ticket."https://nyti.ms/2CynnNL

NYTimes, how about an op-ed piece about how our educational system ranking in the world plummeted from 1st to 34th since the virtual takeover of our system by the Department of Education and the teachers unions. Aren't our kids worth the investigation?

I think if you look at more than your racial bias issues you’ll find other issues outside of blaming schools. Like parents didn’t bring them to school or support their education or refused to sign paperwork for ESE testing or encouraged fighting. School doesn’t raise your kids.

Babies don’t come with a set of instructions. Not everyone has had parenting examples and not everyone is equipped to be a parent. Parents who barely made it out of high school might not know the importance of higher ed. It was good enough for me... Parent ed is what we need.

When would you teach parent Ed? If the parent isn't doing shit for their child, why would they go to a parent education course?

Night classes in communities where you offer dinner (pizza) and baby sitting. The GREAT program has a family component that is amazing with observable results in family communication.

Most of the people who need this kind of help already work night shift because it pays more and they desperately need money.

The kids referred to in the article are living in section eight housing and almost always mothers or grandmothers are available. As many family members as possible attend these trainings develops a good relationship and a better understanding between family members, less crime.

If we made college free for all, this wouldn't be an issue. Your educators/administrators would have to be paid what they are actually worth. What a wakefup call that'd be.

Still whining about this after 6 decades of pouring money down a never-improving abyss? Obviously throwing money at this problem has never and will never work. Where students don't want to learn, and parents do not participate, you'll have failure.
