I absolutely agree! I think you can actually tell the social state of a town by the state of its' library.

a lot of NYC libraries have expanded their services to include providing computer centers & tutorials for people that need them as well as ebooks. & a wide range of classes & support systems for todays world. Books are still available.

This is also true in Los Angeles. The author claims libraries are starving for support, while usage is way up. In the end his statements have little substance and will only generate a slew of “I love libraries” Twitter memes.

Let’s hope all libraries can find their way into the future as integral parts of their communities.

Ex-Libras, about New York City public library system, debuted last week on PBS. I highly recommend seeking it out. Libraries are more than books.https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/ex-libris/home/ …

You have a library on your smart phone, tablet & e-reader! No need for public funded libraries like in my Fairfax county VA! Yes stop wasting money on Taj Mahal libraries! I have not been to a library in years. Spend money on home less & soup kitchens!

Libraries offer classes from English as a Second Language to office software skills to sewing to how to start a business to coding. Not everyone has a smartphone or a computer.

My wife came from China and made massive use of public libraries to learn English and apply for jobs. Now she's an accountant and makes more than I do. The return on investment of making these resources freely available is huge.

Libraries are critical and their expanded role (or renewed expanded role) is great, but they need to offer designated quiet spaces.

You FASCISTS have banned most of classic literature from libraries and academia I'm guessing you have gone through the rest of the books and blocked out any conservative readings.
