Hi - homosexual here - evangelicals are cut from the same theocratic cloth, constrained only by the laws of our secular republic.

This is not about ‘whose religion is worse’. It’s important to highlight the damage and influence religion has on society and it needs to be condemned. We are lucky that we have restraint Christianity. It took centuries I’m sure. If only we can do the same to other religions.

American Muslims support gay marriage at a higher rate than evangelicals. If you can show me a Muslim in this country who has, say - argued in court that LGBT people should have workplace protections - I’ll eat my shoe.

Again your comparing religions which is not the point being made. Secondly, I’m not American, I live in the UK. That’s wonderful that you have such support there. Unfortunately the support is not the same in the UK (link in reply). So I still stand by what I said.

You can criticize Islam as long as you recognize that many so-called Christians would love to see this in America as well, but they can only get away with verbally and mentally abusing them here.

This country was created by Christians and no where in our law does it state that. So what the hell are you talking about ?

We currently have a vice president who supports gay conversion therapy, which is essentially just child abuse. So don't act like your religion is any better.

Yes it is. Gay conversion therapy is still legal in many states. And people like Pence and Trump supporters want to break down the barrier between church and state. And the fact remains people use Christianity as an excuse to discriminate against LGBT people.

Are they dragged to therapy sessions? No, it’s not the law. You don’t have to do it. Seriously, comparing a religion that throws gays off rooftops to people who take their kids to therapy is a false equivalency.

If a parent is taking a kid to a place like that then yes they are being forced. And it is torture, not therapy. And if you think an LGBT person has never been murdered by a Christian you are very mistaken. I am not defending any religion, they are all fucked up honestly.

Of course the Xtians will now jump in with their usual hatred and state how their religion wouldn't do such a thing. Except they would. Just look at the support for the bigoted baker. Just because they didn't physically abuse the couple doesn't mean they didn't abuse them at all.
