In Opinion Op-Ed contributor Marshall Allen writes, "In 17 years, I’ve never had a colleague suggest that my religious beliefs kept me from hard-nosed reporting. In fact, my convictions give me a foundation to be demanding."https://nyti.ms/2C9LZfA

So why mention your religious beliefs now? And I'm not sure what is meant by the last sentence. If the job asks one to be demanding then that is the employee's obligation.

Religion, GOD, Christianity have all taken a back seat over Politics, Social Media, News Media, etc..Republican Conservatism doesn't mean what it used to.

i'll disagree. your faith indicates that you're willing to accept statements without evidence. not a good trait for a rational person. i would also argue that faith isn't a good basis for morals after reading books and observing followers. i am tired of giving faith a pass.

I believe Malcolm Gladwell is also a Christian... Who is one of the most rigorous, thoughtful, curious journalists I know. Listen to his Revisionist History and see if you don't agree.

i also like gladwell, but the comment still stands. faith is belief without evidence. do continue to believe if you must, but don't claim that it makes you more credible. it smacks of "s/he is a good christian, so that makes them a better, more moral person.' arguably not.

Just because you plan to & arrive at being honest & truthful does not in any way say others in your same profession, who carry your same title will act the same. I, as an American listener, have noticed . A couple times. More than a couple times.
