California beaches cannot be privatized. But if billionaire Vinod Khosla wins his case, he could reshape the laws that govern 1,100 miles of shore.https://nyti.ms/2C4h0la

Send him elsewhere. India doesnt want him either. This is Insufferable behaviour. ( Also, the first 100ft of coastline should, ideally, be govt owned, free access; for coastal conservation reasons more than anything else )

That’s been the law in CA for 45 or so years. Apparently he thinks he’s above it.

What in the name of Neocolonial shithousery is this ? Takes a LOT of gall to paint coastline regulations as Orwellian .. esp. as they're the very antithesis. The vulture capitalist in him mustve been bobbing its head in glee at the outrageousness of the argument, no doubt.pic.twitter.com/aeIVb8bQ1U

Whatever you say. Californians wanted coastal access for all our citizens. It’s worked pretty well for decades. Once in a while a crazed billionaire comes along. Fuck them.

This asshole, @vkhosla, is “principled” all right, and his principle is: billionaires are above the law.

Now that @vkhosla has shown the whole nation what a malignant man he is, may karma gift him with slow, painful, disfiguring, deadly disease that first takes his capacity to communicate with the living world he clearly hates.

1 of 2 You buy a house, you own the property that has the path leading to the beach. You pay to build the facilities and a lot. You charge a fee, can keep the place afloat because of the costs including insurance. So you close up the path, that goes through your property.

You buy a house with a path which is a guaranteed public access based on 45 years of law.
