Though now many people associate Labor Day with barbecues and the beach, it started with calls for humane working conditions and higher wages.https://nyti.ms/2PXTtoU

The blood sweat & tears of unions are responsible for working conditions, safety regulations, & benefits that people today take for granted in the 21st century. The labor movement in the United States grew out of the need to protect the common interest of all workers.

What is it about trump saying that scheduled increases in Government employee compensation would not happen on Labor Day weekend isn't clear.

Which the current administration interprets as a day to make laborers life more diffiuclt and their conditions less humane by freezing pay. Got it.

And if people opt out in response to the Janus decision, we will lose what is left of Labor Day & return to the inhumane conditions that led to the inception of unions & at least some collective power to bargain with the corporations etc. that put huge profits over their people.

Trumps interprets that it means to deal with ‘Labor’ issues (he just froze Fed wages) and of course, lowering wages.

They should rename it back to labour day, because barbecues and the beach day doesn’t do it justice. Oh wait...

Do you think Trump thought he was being cute and funny when he announced no 2% pay raise for federal workers just before Labor Day? I have had the same PO Box for over 30 years and see the workers there several times a week. None are getting rich!
