'We' can't 'allow' banks to operate freely? Hubris much? Wasn't interference with this exact reasoning why we had the crash in 2008?

yes they can there not giving loans to people who don't have the means to pay it back.Just like selling homes to people who couldn't afford them led to a problem with the banks and mortgage companies. They had to be bailed out

Banks are private companies If you mentioned loan. The problem is. Why do people still borrow? Values are absured when compared with other countries

If state mandates all you get token lending & so much litigation & song & dance! Did Equal employment opportunity laws improve minority employment? No! Improved Lawyers' incomes! Love must come from within! Not from state!

Wouldn’t banks have a fiduciary responsibility not to make loans on substandard projects? Or does that not matter now?

I have two friends, one is in and out of jobs and is always broke, terrible with money and tents in a questionable area. The second friend has a steady job, good with finances, owns home in nice area. Both ask to borrow money for an investment, 🤔 what to do, Hmm?

Force banks to make bad loans again and fuel a new massive bubble... Sounds responsible!

Dumb question: Why not? Are other banks prohibited from considering loans in the redlined areas?

Might suggest they lend money to people who will pay it back? Otherwise it's just another welfare industry. 🙄
