It is illegal to serve alcohol to anyone under 18 so they cannot down a pint in a pub. Also many pubs now have a 21 rule. Many European countries have banned energy drinks due to the high levels of caffeine and stimulants.

If there parents buy them the alcohol accompanied with a meal 16 or 17 year olds can legally drink in a pub, look it up.
-
Legally yes. But try it.
-
In my experience of having meals with families in pubs, it happens all the time, without a problem. Did you know that it is also legal for UK parents to serve alcohol to their own children at home once they turn 5?
-
Yeah tweeted that before, although 5 is a bit extreme, teaching kids responsible drinking from younger years maybe isnt a bad thing in my opinion
-
5 is insane IMHO, but giving teenagers a little bit of watered wine or a light beer at a family meal I wouldn't have a problem with. Communion wine in this country is nearly always alcoholic too, but that's a tiny sip.
-
It's not insane at all, it's done across Europe, such as in France, and they have less problems with heavy drinking than the UK - and I'm a teetotaler!

This is a totally disingenuous tweet. Very few pubs will actually do this (most people don't know that exception to the 18+ law), and you definitely can't buy booze in the store below 18.
-
... also no 16 year old can down a pint, physically. It takes years of practice.
-
Quite a few British kids will have a couple of years practice under their belt by 16 from guzzling frosty jacks at 14 down the park with their mates on a Saturday.

In America you can get married, buy a gun, join the military, drive a car all at 18 or under But can’t drink a beer until you’re 21!!!!!
-
And vote. Don't forget voting.

Supervised alcohol consumption with a responsible adult is better IMHO than giving someone full, unsupervised access to alcohol at 18 or 21. There is an increasing body of evidence that energy drinks have some serious associated health risks. Both should be regulated accordingly.

Whereas in the United States you can buy a gun, vote and ship off to war but cannot buy a pint.

Agree seems crazy. Like in the USA you can’t take your pet dog into a pub but you can take a loaded semi automatic weapon.
