There’s a growing possibility that Google's artificial intelligence tools will amplify the many biases found in society, even unbeknown to its creatorshttps://nyti.ms/2PmxAhD

Good grief. Our paranoia has gone way long enough. Can we try to focus on something else? We need a little good news, today.

Then it’s not a bias. If it mirrors real life that is equality. If society is tilted one direction, then to make it unaturally equal would be a bias.

Google results are determined by algorithms that rank results onto Page 1, Page2 etc also top or bottom of page, based on the number of ‘most searched for words’ in Google searches over short periods of time. See ‘Google Research’ as every website owner knows (& tries to game🙂)

For anyone who cant be bothered, it basically says there's no proof google did anything, and if thats proven to be a lie, it was an accident, and if thats proven to be a lie, it was the people working AT google, not the company itself.

Well, depends. If you mean repeating /printing the very words out of a certain person’s mouth, which are said publicly, cameras rolling, then I’m gonna need a brand new definition of “bias”

I have the Google pixel 2 and I have discovered this to be so true. The news articles that my phone keeps providing to me based on the algorithm of what I like has quickly grown stale and irrelevant because they are too targeted. And I can't change it, no matter how hard I try.

If I weren't bothered by the fact that my new stories were now being limited to the Royal Family (apparently I clicked too much during wedding fever) then I might not have noticed and allowed my biases to increase. Or just stunted my intelligence by not reading about real news.

If Google was trying to sway public opinion based on search results, we would already know about it. Think about how many people work for them, someone would talk. Its crazy conspiracy theory thinking to say that they are all keeping their mouth shut.

If you still think this is unintentional, you're not paying attention. At some point, your ignorance becomes wilful and complicit. Freedom of Speech includes when someone is saying something you disagree with and Big Tech Companies have falsely advertised that on their platform.

One could easily argue that Trump is a direct result of Google and Facebook, considering their reach is far, far greater than cable news. Your entire social media feed is designed to polarize and radicalize you.
