The ruling by an arbitrator who was appointed by the league and the NFL Players Association said that Kaepernick’s lawyers had unearthed enough evidence in the past year for the case to proceed to a full hearinghttps://nyti.ms/2ovzstn

hmm QB has 2 turnovers in the last 5 minutes of a Superbowl. His last salary was $19M I believe. I'm not sure teams want the distraction or bad decision making on the field...all collusion aside. At least he'll be remembered as more than a backup caliber QB
-
The same year he kneeled his teammates on the 49ers voted for Colin to win the Len Eshmont award. The team’s website describes the award as the 49ers’ “most prestigious annual honor...” So much for a distraction. It’s only a distraction for those who love racism.
-
Teammates aren't worried about distractions, organizations are. Using his celebrity to raise social awareness is courageous and admirable. His play on the field isn't worth $19M.
-
They’re not worried about it either. These organizations have made a much bigger deal out of a peaceful protest than it ever needed to be. Their actions on trying to police this is the distraction & has turned viewers away. Most folks never paid attention to the anthem at games.
-
We have to CHANGE THE TERMINOLOGY! It is NOT A PROTEST
It’s A Respectful Plea/Prayer To OUR COUNTRY For help! A Protest and Disrespect would be turning his back, or waiting until the Anthem is Over to go on the field. @NFL can’t claim to be PRIVATE In a PUBLIC Forum either
-
Thank you for being sensible. It’s so exhausting trying to defend something that shouldn’t need defending. Black people are pleading for our lives! Do ppl understand how mentally damaging it is for us to constantly see our people beaten & killed by cops on the news w/ no justice?
-
No, I can never understand, Nama, and I am sorry for what you must endure. I support your quest for equity because you are my fellow humans and citizens, and you deserve better. I wish you courage and strength in this fight. You have an ally in me.

Thank you so much. This means a lot. I pray more like you help stand up against this injustice, because quite frankly, we are exhausted.

Kaepernick kneels to bring awareness to the killing of Black Americans at the hands of the police. He kneels during the Anthem...which is a racist, black hating prose with 4 stanzas. Americans recite the 1st 2 - by design. Read the 3rd stanza and what it says about black people!
-
One of my best friends in the world died fighting for our country. She stood and saluted that flag every damn time the song played she was black she never saw herself as anything but American. She never ever knelt, more integrity I guess.
-
I’m an Afghanistan Vet, I guarantee you that I didn’t go to war for an Anthem..??? No one ever did.
-
I'm a vet too. These people be acting like I should feel disrespected because Kap kneels to a racist song. They don't get it. Protesting is patriotic.
-
I agree with you. Protesting is an integral part of our society. But you don’t protest at work. I can’t do it my workplace. I’d get fired.
-
That's not a law. You can protest at work using clothing or a variety of other ways. But the point of his protest was to raise awareness and there aren't too many bigger platforms than an NFL game.
-
How can I protest discrimination against Romani with clothing? I’ve been working on that one for awhile. People think it’s lots of fun to say they’re going to sell they’re kids to gipsies unless you happen to be one.
-
They don't call it "fashion statement" for no reason. You can Google fashion activism to see how it's done. Tailor your message accordingly and you can be one too.

Colin Kaepernick getting to trial phase is important because of DISCOVERY. The NFL doesn’t want any of its documents or conversations about players to leak to the public. Not a guarantee to win, but with this leverage Kap has a settlement in sight with this new development.
-
Exactly. They will more than likely settle before they allow this case to go too trial
-
Would he settle though?
-
Good question
-
A better question is should he?
-
I don’t think at this point, any amount of money would make him settle
-
On top of that, he has been branded (intentionally or not almost doesn't matter at this point) to be a warrior of social justice. Settling would fly in the face of that.
-
Totally disagree with that entire line of thought legally. This wouldn’t be about taking money like you’re “selling out.” Erase this “stick it to the man” narrative. It’s tremendous costs involved. Not only that, the ultimate arbitration decision holds more weight. Riskier.
