Agreed, my favorite, too. But they pricey (and usually huge.) Does it really cost twice as much to grow Apple Crisp vs. all other varieties? Kids love Gala though.

It was ousted in favor of the Gala long ago by people who don’t enjoy eating moist sand.

I'm finally on trend with something. I used to buy Red Delicious in the 90's and now buy organic Gala. I knew it would happen, someday.

They only grow Red Delicious apples anymore to put in terrible corporate box lunches to be thrown away.

A wise choice, indeed. We should rename them Red Disgusting. Also, my working theory is this is why evil queens use them to poison people, because they don’t want to poison an actually good apple.

I’ve always thought nearly any other apple tastes better than the red delicious. What’s worse? Golden delicious. Neither delicious at all. Mealy and tasteless, yes. Delicious? No.

Gala crop has been really good this year. Still can’t touch the Honeycrisp though- best apple on the market.
