The only thing you "need to know" about the news is not to watch it.

Both. If you get emotional over news, stop watching/reading it.

I do not believe that is a good enough reason to be completely uniformed about world events. Uniformed people make uniformed choices governed by their feelings. That is potentially dangerous.

If you are being emotionally effected by politics you are being manipulated and that's not good. Uninformed people when it comes to politics is the majority of US and they have one less thing to be depressed about.

I do not agree at all. Politics effects people's lives even if it doesn't effect you personally. There is a lot at stake a lot of the time. We should care about these issues, both on a local level and a national level. We can't all just be apathetic. That's how tyrants come.

I can't think of one policy change I that directly effected my day to day life, ever.

Then you are part of a privileged group my friend. As am I. Not everyone is so lucky. However, policy change affects both of our lives be it day to day or as a whole. We vote for the society we want to live in. If you choose to remain ignorant you're opting out of society.

You are such divisive scumbags for claiming Tibbett's murder got a lot of attention because of "America's racism." It was a huge story by all media before anyone knew who killed her. The day she was found dead, the liberal media suddenly buried the story, and that's OUR racism?
