"Seventy-five years ago, tourism was about experience-seeking. Now it's about using photography and social media to build a personal brand," said the chief executive of a travel companyhttps://nyti.ms/2oh4LrE

Seventy five years ago was the middle of WW2 so yeah, I'd imagine Americans are traveling to Europe for different reasons these days.

Exactly how I have been feeling since instagram was born. People seek experiences that produce the best pix & not ones they truly enjoy. My fav experience is trying new cafes in new destinations & u bet I have 0 pix of many places I have traveled to.

Imagine a million people walking past your house every minute of the day, clicking cameras and littering the street and your garden. No one stops to chat with you or their bus driver or waiters or shopkeepers. Loud all night too. It's not Disneyland!

A vexing problem that has gripped much of Europe lately — the worry of “overtourism,”... Really, that's your biggest problem? What about the nasty refugees, the crime spike and not to mention the raping? How about acid attacks and violence? Those people aren't tourists!!

Don't blame the tourists with their little backpacks. Blame the Islamic caliphate that you've been warned about Europe. You are right though, Europe will never be the same. Too late...
