It was not in the US. It was in a colony of the US. And that explains the poor US response.

Trump said that hurricane Maria wasn't in the US, it was in Puerto Rico. He also coloured the American flag incorrectly.

LOL tell that to the corrupt government and mayors of Puerto Rico who kept resources because of their spite and bigotry.

This is a massive failure of the Trump administration and needs to be addressed as such. Thousands of people died. He threw paper towels and took a victory lap. Disgusting

This is not the greatest storm ever seen. Katrina was. The difference is this. Many of the deaths in Puerto Rico are not the result of the storm alone. It's the result of the infrastructure that was allowed to deteriorate so badly before the storm by the government of PR.

Yes, Puerto Rico’s Mayor is quite a catastrophe. Stealing federal funds Trump gave her to line her pockets. #FactsMatterhttps://www.usnews.com/news/world/articles/2018-07-05/puerto-rico-mayor-2-others-arrested-on-corruption-charges …

P.R. is a beautiful place with wonderful people. However, due to a corrupt and incompetent government, the infrastructure was decrepit, emergency management was unprepared, and execution was poor. Major contrast between their Governor vs Texas or Florida.
