Iceland has restricted the annual harvest, but hunting "is accelerating the decline," said the acting director of a research center https://nyti.ms/2oiLqX5 pic.twitter.com/B2pBApB8W9

Climate change, however, may prove to be the biggest challenge: Around Iceland, silvery sand eels, which dangle from the puffins’ beaks as they bring them to their young, are in decline. That collapse correlates to a rise in sea surface temperatures. https://nyti.ms/2PNRFi3 pic.twitter.com/nhhwQ2BfNF

Icelanders eat puffins and kill whales. We can all show our feelings by avoiding visiting there and letting their tourism directors know why we plan to stay away.

Very sad. One of the travel highlights of my life was briefly communing with puffins on the northernmost Shetland Island (Unst). They are charismatic little birds.

The Arctic ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot.... Reports all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone- Washington Post 11/2/1922

I pray we all can play a part in reversing if possible the climate change! So all animal species including human beings will be able to continue to thrive on the planet earth and not become extinct .
