In Opinion Op-Ed contributor Naka Nathaniel writes, "Last Sunday, I did something that no properly raised Catholic ever does. I stood up in the middle of Mass and called out the priest."https://nyti.ms/2PBln9O

Inappropriate...time and place...you could have waited till after Mass. If the priest, in the end agree he erred I'm sure he'd address it at the next Mass

This kind of shit is how priests get away with raping children. There is no polite way to talk about this. Every person in the church has a responsibility its not between one man and one priest. Placing your faith that the priests to do the right thing isn't working.

Kudos to you. We were made to believe that there were proper and improper ways to be a Catholic so we would never be prompted to call out the pathetic behavior behind the curtain of evil that takes place within the Church. It does matter where it is. Wrong is wrong.

Completely unacceptable behavior. That mass was celebrating the Eucharist, not your views on anything.

Yeah, lets just proceed as usual, and discuss that in the basement, at night, one-on-one, afterwards.

Questions in my head arise: a.) Wasn’t that useless and inappropriate... b.) Wasn’t it slightly late, as every knowledgeable person knew what’s going on for years...?! I would turn to the people “in charge”...

As a non-Catholic, I sincerely ask - isn’t that priest in charge of that particular congregation? Wasn’t the question about how to be assured that his son was safe in that church?

My parents, siblings & I parted ways with Catholicism when we realized how rigid, often tone deaf & unforgiving the church was. Its stance on abortion & even birth control & divorce, not to mention same gender marriages, all contributed to our decision & I've never looked back.

tings need to be said, but the sacrifice of the Mass is not the time nor place, unless if your goal is to ratchet up the drama.

This man’s actions is the result of The Church as an organization’s cover-up of heinous crimes against children, against the trust the congregation has placed on these men. It’s not about appropriateness. It’s desperation to be heard.

Parishioners at my church once put letters instead of money in the collection envelopes. There was an immediate response.
