A truck filled with Nike sneakers was parked in an impoverished neighborhood on Chicago's South Side to lure would-be thieves into a traphttps://nyti.ms/2wnNuAN

If that's what they have to do to get the crime under control then so be it. If I park my car in the middle of a parking lot with $10,000 all over the inside of the seat, that still gives no one there right to steal it. A non-criminal would not try to steal from that truck

That's not the point🤦🏾‍♂️ they put the shoes in a neighborhood that's impoverished and more than 90% black. It looks lame because you never hear of them doing this in places where the majority is white, A.K.A the suburbs

And you don't put things like this in neighborhoods where there's not an increase in crime, the whole point of these things is to catch the ones that are doing it so that the ones that actually work for everything they have are not getting their belongings stole

And the people in poverty do work for what they got buddy don't let the people that do crimes in those areas turn your head to those that still work an honest living in impoverished areas.

That's what I meant. The people in those neighborhoods go to work to carve out a living and while they're there someone is in there house stealing. I lived as a kid in the projects, I've seen some crazy shit. Not doing anything is even worse, plus they get blamed for not stop it

I feel it but I just kinda feel like it's not stopping the direct people that actually commit the crime cuz they could be getting sum 16 yo kid that hasn't even done anything before instead of getting the person that's robbed 25 people ya feel me?

Now that does happen, plus you got drug dealers who will trade pennies on the dollar. In most cases people are stealing for drugs to began with.

The article says the trailer was unmarked. It was just a locked up trailer. But The New York Times keeps playing up the Nike angle. Like the police were baiting criminals with a box that said "Expensive Nike sneakers inside!" So the question is: Why would The @NYTimes do that? ;)

🇺🇸Create poverty, pay unlivable wages, make it illegal to be homeless, and then bait the poor with shoes they can’t afford to buy to lock them up and have slave labor making Nike shoes for .13 cents an hour. That’s the inhuman reasoning. #Deplorable #Injustice

Theft is a major problem that costs all consumers money. The only thing I see wrong with this is the police and railroad caved. Police do stings for prostitution, drugs, car theft and pedophiles so why not a sting for theft?

This bait car and sneakers bullshit.. I'd love to put those behind this on the street with absolutely nothing for a few weeks and see what they do when they're starving and half an opportunity arises with a gift laying in front of them that says they may eat tonight.....
