“We risked our lives to protect Canadians,” a Nepali guard wounded in a Kabul bombing said. “And embassy officials didn’t even meet us when we were crying in the hospital.”https://nyti.ms/2wlyP91

Don't feel sorry for mercenaries. They knew the risks and were there for money not to defend their own country or family. As long as they were paid their salary anything that happens to them that isn't in their contract is their problem.

Mercenaries? They were security. People who work for a living and get injured doing that work deserve to have their medical bills paid for and to be compensated for it. You sound like an ass.

Security in a war zone is done by soldiers whether they call themselves security guards or not. If you are paid to be a soldier you become a mercenary. The guards cause was money, not Canada.

Canadians are currently unable to protect their own country, how will their embassy officials have time to enquire about you in Afghanistan?

I can't believe they haven't yet been compensated...like always the poor is the one who sacrifices everything and gets nothing back..not even a proper treatment... the embassy were looking for guards who would work very less money, and then they cut their health benefits.. SHAME!

They are mercenaries willing to kill for the highest bidder and not god and country. Don't feel bad for them. They live by the sword and die by the sword. It's what they signed up for.

I think I know better about my countrymen more you do.. Let me tell you about the so called "Gurkhas", they are just poor people living in remote villages of Nepal whose only chance of making a living is by working abroad.

Embassies avoid making direct contracts with laborers, guards and helpers. These outsourced staff are paid through third party contractors without any security, insurance or compensation. legally they don't have any rights over them which is Exploitation and injustice.
