Betsy DeVos has no business being in public service. She's destroying the future and young lives. She should join her brother's private army and jump out of planes.

I will allow that it is somewhat irregular that Miss DeVos did not begin her first paid job until she had reached the age of 60, and then as Secretary of Education. Perhaps there is credence in the notion that the $25m her husband, Dick, donated to the party might be a factor.

That's because her family business of Amway allowed her to become wealthy and she never held a real job. Guess at 60, she got bored.

The average teacher spends $479 a year on classroom supplies. Federal money should be used to pay them what they deserve, not to buy guns.

Shouldn't we allocate an extra $479 a year on classroom supplies instead?

and pay them a good wage on top of it so they don't have to have second jobs.

Where do you live? I live in NY and starting salaries for high school teachers (they make more than elementary teacher) is 38,000. It’s not enough for struggling young teachers.

Average salary in LAUSD is $75k a year but since it costs $100K a year to live a middle-class lifestyle in Los Angeles, a teacher needs a partner to bring in $25k just to have $0 at the end of the year

I wish teachers made the same as other people holding master’s degrees. It is appalling that we invest so much in war and so little on education.
