.When I see the respect and love given the elderly in other countries, it makes me ache for our elders. I've worked in long term care facilities. Ours are nothing like this. Not even close.

Ours are morbid. I give flowers out on occasions and seeing all those people in wheelchairs near the nurses stations staring at walls all day makes me so depressed.

Basically. My mom has dementia and most people tell me I should put her in a home, we live in a "me first" world I guess.

Wish we all lived together in multigenerational homes like cavemen-elders can share their knowledge & help with baby sitting-then youth return the favor sharing the load of tenderly caring for the old.

Some fortunate enough to afford a home theater should put one of those bus or train rides in a senior citizen home too.

This made me smile at the start of my day. Finally, some dignity and happiness for people at the end of their days.

A common complaint from the elderly nowadays is their inability to drive. This actually makes a lot of sense. The "driver" is loving it. I don't think some understand how hard it is to entertain elderly people with dementia-symptoms, or how miserably boring their lives can be.

What a great idea! How many times has a dementia patient told me “I need to go ____” and frustrated by the fact that they cannot remember where or how and that we cannot let them (safety)
