Wells Fargo asked if a candidate would be taking donations from "lobbyists from the medical marijuana industry." The campaign said yes. Wells Fargo closed its account.https://nyti.ms/2PsjXyA

Ever hear of civil forfeiture? Marijuana is still illegal under federal law, so until the feds change the law, Wells Fargo is 100% correct.

The bank was wrong. Federal law doesn't even come into play here. She is not involved in the cultivation, processing, or distribution of any controlled substance. If she was involved in any of those activities federal law would apply.

I honestly can't blame them. The federal illegal status of marijuana prevents banks from accepting funds related to the cannabis industry. Legalization needs to happen.
