I have started a petition to remove the word ‘News’ from the FOX News title. We must DEMAND new legislation that requires FOX and all cable news be held to high standards and required to report unbiased truth. I believe that in certain European countries medical education is subsidized by the government, and in return graduates are obligated to work for the national health system for a number of years. Seems like a good system.

Indentured servitude is a phenomenal system. Perhaps you don't go far enough though. Maybe, if we put doctors in shackles, we could really lower healthcare cost!

Yes, indeed indentured servitude is wonderful. It's what powers the gig economy. It's how the ancestors of many Americans financed their trip over from Europe.

Some states have this system for lawyers. If you work so many years for the state they will pay off your loans.

If it were optional and offered adequate incentives then I am supportive. In fact, those programs already exist for many fields including medicine. The program mentioned above is less optional, and then doctors are forced to work in medical systems with price fixing. Bad plan

No, the medical students are not required to accept subsidies, and if they don't they assume no obligations. And note that in Germany, at least, there is a parallel private health care option where you pay out of pocket. >> Bad plan << And our system is better? You think?

LOL. Yes don't be like Denmark, one woman said on FOX. in Denmark school is "free" doctors and everybody who takes an education gets payed to go to school, no one has high student loans they can't pay off! Even though we pay about 40% tax.. #DontbelikeDK

It’s not just physicians (not doctors- physicians). I am a nurse with a doctorate degree and my family struggles to get by. It’s a never ending cycle. I’m better off now than I once was and am better off than many but still- there’s no end in sight to the student loan debt.

MDs seem 2 think they alone suffer the burden of student debt. Yes, their loans are the highest but so is their income so their situation is like other profs. (& they alone have a fed. write off after 25 yrs) This isn't a Dr. issue - it's an issue 4 all non-wealthy students.

An ER doc makes roughly $300K/year...even in markets like NYC. If this guy can't pay back his $3,000/month loan repayment, he's doing something very wrong.
