Lyme disease is the most commonly reported vector-borne illness in the United States, so why isn’t there a vaccine for it? Turns out there used to be one, but it was taken off the market more than 15 years ago.https://nyti.ms/2nIChH4

This is a dog tick (in NYT pic), and they do not transit Lyme disease. It is the deer tick that does. (Please correct me if I am wrong)👇pic.twitter.com/4T27zTovDL

Dog rocks transmit ehrlichiosis which can be more troublesome. Each tick carries different infections. All Rick bites must be taken seriously

I knew a guy named rick, and trust me, you would not want to get bit by that guy.

I don't like to kill things, but... 😡-when it comes to ticks and those damned, pesky mosquitoes...I don't hesitate to smash them. Arrgh, I loathe them; whether they have significance in nature's design or not. 😂-Don't just TAKE my blood, ask for it...I may even give you some.

My daughter in law is now studying Lyme disease & working with ticks. They're putting ticks on people who test neg. but are positive and then after a week with the tick on them they see if the tick tests positive. Interesting but I don't see tons of volunteers. 😏

I wouldn't volunteer for it either. Although I enjoy a good hike, I'm not much of an outdoorsman, so the likelihood of my coming across ticks is slime-to-none. But, those small mosquitos...sheesh, they zero-in on me like a heat seeking missle as SOON as I step outside. 😡-Arrgh

1- high % who received got sick showing most had exposure to Lyme prior to vaccine 2- so many strains of Lyme & other tick Borne infections -vaccine would be useless unless without understanding

Because it didn't work. And now the LabCorps and Quests use an even more limited scope for testing. Don't forget the other infections that can go with borrelia. They are often worse.

I'm reading your lyme article, @karenzraick, ... missing a few things. "Lyme" is only one strain of borrelia. Borrelia is found practically everywhere in the US in high numbers. It hides from immune system, so is tough to Dx, treat, vaccinate. Next time, talk to ILADS.

We need control burns of any land even the verges along the roadsides and for the pheasants quail any bird who eats ticks, opossums, to be allowed to live and recover natural population levels. Opossums are rugs dragged through the forest which turns around and eats all the ticks

There are huge problems with the vaccine. My dog has been getting it (and the boosters) and he still came down with two different tick-borne illnesses. Best solution yet is tick repellant.
