72K? So where did they get the drug problem from? Isn’t the population close to 330M. Fake news

And the problem stems mostly from Dr's over prescribing opioids to patients. It's irrelevant how big the overall population is.. 72K deaths is a staggering number for one year.

Even though fentanyl is a powerful and potentially dangerous drug, it is not the government’s role to save people from themselves. It’s a personal responsibility.

Fentanyl didn’t cause anyone to overdose. Using drugs caused people to overdose. When will the media acknowledge the elephant in the room: drug use and individual responsibility?

Maybe Congress should force the manufacturers to place warning labels on the drug before it's distributed. Perhaps give a million dollar fine and ten years in jail.

More deaths than US sustained in the entire Vietnam War wow one year. Too bad people didn't care more though. Time for more empathy less judgement.

Fentalyn overdoses is a crisis. At the end of the day patients are the ones asking for these prescriptions & are resonsible for the meds they are putting in their bodies!

The most important thing to note is that statistics show that a majority of deaths and overdoses are from heroin and fentanyl. This is drug abuse and it's illegal. Those of us who have severe, life altering pain should not be punished!!

I understand what you're saying but drug abuse is not a crime or at least it shouldn't be that's why so many people are dying. It's a health issue not a legal issue.

It’s not just in America, although prescription narcotic abuse is huge there, but many countries have problems with opioid type drugs. They have very destructive effects, both physical & psychological.

Why is drug addiction so prevalent in America compared to other countries? We are top 3 in opioid, meth and cocaine use per the UNODC

we're a shithole 3rd world country - every advantage we ever had has been slowly whittled away by greed and deceit, leaving us a vast landscape of delusional, entitled, bored assholes, with the American dream a shattered, sick lie... but hey getting high still rules
