NYT A.O. Scott: ”[‘Crazy Rich Asians’ is] set in an Asia miraculously free of history or politics” - you know, that was my real problem with “Sleepless in Seattle.” It really didn’t chronicle Duwamish tribal history and the seizing of their lands.
-
But I understand. As an exotic people, every story of ours must also be a history lesson, full of war and refugees.

Saw it Weds. Enjoyable! Not groundbreaking. Excellent cast, great set design, and costumes. Many amusing scenes, as well as a couple touching ones. Nevertheless, if the grandma was Judy Dench, and the girlfriend was Saoirse Ronan, everyone would say it's been done before.
