NYC education officials were supposed to visit 30 ultra-Orthodox yeshivas and see if they were providing adequate education in subjects like math and science. 3 years later, only 15 have let them in.https://nyti.ms/2PekMdW

So they aren’t able to teach what they want in fucking private school now? If their kids don’t get a proper education to succeed past high school than that’s on the parents and school. Not the government’s job. They have every right to say, piss off, NY.

When they take public dollars, that's the government's job.

Don’t know why they’d receive tax dollars as a private institution, but if that’s true then it’s not a private school.

They have a large and influential voting bloc in the city. Politics are funny.

Very odd indeed. Although, from what I read, the law proposed would definitely infringe on their first amendment right. Politics are funny and bullshit all in one.

The State should get a subpoena and shut them down, if they are not following the law. A number of them had inadequate education services. No one should be above the law.

They should be visiting the failing schools. Yeshivas are not the hotbed for truancy or taking education. #prioritize

How can so many parents, of any type of church, hand their children over like sacrificial lambs? Knowing this isn’t what’s best for them, knowing their children deserve more? I don’t get it, for a skip Hell and go straight to Heaven pass?

this is a boondoggle... these yeshivas are a farce as far as education is concerned, and @GovAndrewCuomo should hold their feet to the fire. No one should get a free pass. These kids can hardly read English when they graduate....
