About 1,000 Google employees have signed a letter protesting the company's effort to create a censored search engine for use in China, saying it raises "urgent moral and ethical issues"https://nyti.ms/2nJOqLE

Meanwhile Google retains information on every facet of our lives. Even turning off "Location" only creates the illusion it's off. Tech experts are in agreement that Google remains aware of exactly where you are at all times.

In this particular case, does the clash between ethics/morality and making the next mortgage payment occur because of the well-substantiated fact that knowledge is power? How effective are we when deprived of knowledge?

If Google doesn't do this it will continue to be banned in China. How does this help anybody? The Google search engine, even a censured version, will still help people find high quality information. Certainly better than the status quo.
