Nebraska executed a man with fentanyl, the opioid at the center of the overdose crisis. It’s the first time it’s been used for a U.S. execution.https://nyti.ms/2nAbhJs

Fentanyl is not a complete anesthetic. Unlike Na Pentothal or propofol, You remain awake as you are paralyzed by the pancuronium. Until you heart stops from the potassium you are “locked in”. That is cruel torture. As an anesthesiologist an this is just wrong.

A different question entirely. I suspect the morality of the death penality is primary, methodology relevant but predicated on the first question. Subbing fentanyl though, is just wrong.

It's no longer an exaggeration to say that medical professionals all across the country are prescribing lethal injection drugs in order to kill pain. #Nebraska #fentanyl #lethalinjection #deathpenalty

The drug companies were trying to block the execution but remaining silent as opioid addiction is ruining 1000s of lives. That’s hard to comprehend.

Pete Ricketts says he is a Catholic believer in Jesus Christ, but he’s really an Old Testament ally. Eye for eye. How does Christ fit into his world view? @Pontifex, can you please excommunicate a governor who kills willingly, readily, easily? #Nebraska #lethalinjection

As a @Creighton alumni I’d also settle for taking back his diploma or de-naming the The Ricketts Center in the business school. @CreightonPres it is NOT appropriate to have academic programs named after people who believe in death as punishment. It’s not right.

How does a murder nullify a murder? If we believe that no person should take a life, shouldn’t our government lead by example? Lord God have mercy on our souls 🙏

The death penalty will always be unjust, even if you don't believe in sanctity of life&God. Death penalty depends on judge's biases, plea deals, stereotypes, $,good lawyer etc. Green River Killer gets to live vs. A guy who kills 1 dies. Fair?? No. Too many nuances, circumstances.

Maybe in one case. 99% of the time, it's liberal judges who let stone cold killers live.

Read a history book, someday. You'll see that as our country has moved to the left, heinous criminals have been left alive in far greater numbers than in the past. Letting them live on tax payer dollars for decades.

Jumping in since I'm tagged in the replies. As someone who has both Conservative AND Liberal beliefs, in my opinion BOTH "sides" have some serious issues.
