Tesla's board has created a special committee to review a potential proposal from Elon Musk about taking the company private. But it says “no assurances can be given” that any proposal from Musk would be accepted.https://nyti.ms/2nD4JtT

The fuel lobby is so powerful that any technology will lose them! Tesla it's a nice car, but it's terribly expensive. Electric cars are the future of the world, but when? Why are oil companies controlling the development of electric cars?

Battery powered cars are still too costly and not as efficient as gas or diesel vehicles. They just aren’t. It would take a revolutionary battery breakthrough that does not exist today to reduce weight and increase storage capacity.

OK, but I think that battery technology has been around for a long time. NASA already had batteries that are used today. I'm sure that now they have something a lot better, what we will know in 10 or 20 years, when oil will end in the world!

Without the oil lobby and govt subsidies, the battery technology and EVs would have already been light year ahead and completely mainstream. It’s just that oil trades in USD worldwide...

You make a good point about oil subsidies, however battery chemistry and efficiency are not improving at rates which would be needed to overtake standard liquid fueled vehicles at any time soon.

Fuel cells are interesting and may ultimately win, although for now batteries seem to be getting all the attention.
