Remembering our past is important BUT IMHO it is not good to glorify confederate symbols because they do represent the dark side of our history. Instead, we should all learn fr it, not repeat the same behavior, & aim to be better! A teaching moment would be more constructive!

It’s part of history, good or bad, no matter how you view it, deal with ! Removing the statues doesn’t remove the history. Just my thought.

All Confederate monuments need to be in a museum, and not in the public square.

Why do you people look to run from our history? Study it, understand it in terms of yesteryear and today. Learn from it. Instead the libs seek to bury, deny and forget it.

And what is your point NYT? THEY HAVE BEEN THERE FOR YEARS, so why is this suddenly a problem? I personally hate the front of your building in NYC, but you don't see me urging people to tear you down. You're doing that just fine on your own!

Many towns large and small, North and South erected monuments to their Civil War veterans and heros. Allowing all sides to erect monuments was necessary for reconciliation.
