This is sad. Someone simply committed suicide here. When are we going to talk about mental health instead of inanimate object control?

You'd have to be nuts to steal a plane and commit suicide.

Do you think? You have to be nuts to stick a gun to your head and pull the trigger. Or to drive your car down a sidewalk and kill 6 people... People are nuts.

After all the security at US airports, how is this possible?

He was an engineer. He had access to the ground and planes.

But isn’t there security on the actual plane, making it impossible to take off? Obviously not, because it happened, I’m shocked, the possible damage it could have done is frightening.

It could had been devasting, you’re right. Ground engineers have access to taxi planes, hence, no security. It was a cargo plane. As soon as he took off, air traffic control called the F15s. He was doing barrels with the plane. Obviously the poor guy was not mentally stable.

Yup, not the act of a well person. I find it weird that a bloke permitted to taxi planes can do more than that without any security measures. No passwords, anything? I guess that will change now.

I’m astounded. I assumed a plane would have immobilisation tech on board, given that cars and my phone do. We place too much trust in the people who claim to think these things through for us.

Yes! Excellent point. I also wonder if there are any mental stability tests required before applying for these jobs. i.e. The Germanwings pilot. But how often should these be done, too many variables...so your point is very valid.
