Elon Musk’s tweet about taking Tesla private will go down as one of the most unorthodox takeover bids ever. But did it violate securities laws?https://nyti.ms/2Kzrgkh

After he bilked the Obama administration and the American taxpayers out of hundreds of millions of dollars, he wants to gobble up the company. He should be investigated. Where has all of our money gone?

My problem with Tesla is that the companie only exist because the unlimited free money!! Elon isn’t a genious! Model 3 is a mistake! See the cash flow, the huge losses and the unpayable debt!! The perfect formula to fail!!!

SEC should investigate, his move is suspect, bcoz if the funding was not “secured”, it’s essentially manipulating stock price by dissemination of false info.

Yes because it not yet official decision by its board. Since its not official, it is an effort to inflate the price, which is prohibited by SEC laws.

Sure, but what you said is still not at all accurate. Public statements don't require board approval.

I understand what you mean by. My point is : Going Private is a major corporate activity and it won’t be official/truthful if not approved by the board. He announced the tender price, which is not yet official.

Irrelevant, as long as it's true. "thinking about" is very non-specific. He could say "thinking about a Tesla/SpaceX team up up build an electric airliner" and the stock price would be impacted. May or may not happen. Was he actually trying to make it happen? That's what matters

This is fine because it is not a specific and soon to be act that has impact on price today.
