The age women have babies varies sharply by education and geography, putting children on diverging economic paths. These maps show the stark gap.https://nyti.ms/2M6qsYJ

Amazing that all the smart people make the best decisions and live in the best places while paying all the taxes.

Urban areas aren’t the “best places” nor are the most educated the smartest. Rural areas were typically agrarian and depended on early first birth and more hands to help. My grandmother had an eighth grade education but read voraciously and could beat an editor at Scrabble.

Weird how urban areas and coastlines are far more desirable than swamps and dust bowls. Simple supply and demand shows that. But do tell me more about Scrabble wins.

In the Midwest the sky is amazing, the beauty is subtle and real in landscape. Desirable is in the eye of the beholder. No one could beat my grandmother in Scarabble. My father is a well read physician from the NE- he couldn’t beat her and you never challenged a word & won.

I hate that it’s always an either-or. The “why not both” is because this country’s maternity leave and support for child-having in general just flat-out sucks.
