No, this is not a printing error. When officials in Montgomery County, Maryland released information about what they offered Amazon for HQ2, they shared a 10 page document … with every single line redacted https://nyti.ms/2OL7rcV pic.twitter.com/L071s1eh4Z

That's almost as redacted as the documents the DOJ has provided Congress regarding the FBI FISA warrant scandal.... And yet you aren't writing about that. I know I'm a white male, so my opinion doesn't matter to the NYT...

You see no substantive difference between redactions on a classified national security document and a county-level economic development pitch?

Why should anything be censored? This isn't a matter of national security.

because they don't wanna tell anyone that they're giving the store away until the deals done.

I understand that's why they *want* to redact it. I don't understand why they're *allowed* to redact it or keep it secret.

As someone who lives a few blocks from where #HQ2 would be in #MoCo (and who used to work across the street), I am appalled at the back room nature of this whole project. The blame falls on an unholy trio of Bezos, Leggett (Cnty Exec) and @GovLarryHogan. We deserve better.

I blame the council too. They can stop it. MoCo doesn't need Amazon. It needs more small business and reasonable alcohol sales laws to promote craft brews and a lively restaurant scene.

This is insane and anti-democratic. Demise of local media is one thing that enables this kind of secrecy and, yes, corruption.

Not really. They censor plenty by choosing to release only what documents they see fit for their agenda.
